Persian Gabbeh 192 x 101cm
I usually describe a Persian Gabbeh as contemporary tribal and this piece is no exception.
The design in all its simplicity I would predict as lori influenced and mid 1900 from western Iran while the use of colour and the more modern gabbeh weave tells me its an early generation to a gabbeh as we know them today.
The main field is natural sheep colour with the double stylised medallion bearing a sheaf of corn keeping the tribal motifs ever present.
The triangular border and the use of bright colours always popular within the Qashqai tribe who wove this. A great early example of a contemporary tribal rug.
