Saruk Mahal 425 x 322cm
Origin: North West Asia
Circa: Last Quarter 20th Century
Size: 425 x 322cm
Mahal is a grade of Sarouk that is heavy in body, slightly thinner than the nicknamed American sarouks and tends to have a central medallion as opposed to the popular all over design of the American Sarouk. They are renowned for their floral and curvilinear designs Woven close to the Faraghan rugs in Western central Iran. They are technically with a depressed warp and persian knot lending themselves to provide high durability and more intricate designs
This rug has a wonderful varied palate and a non demanding smaller medallion than some. Predominantly red, white and blue with pistachio, apricot and olive tones enabling this to match most decors which is the beauty to a true Persian rug as they blend easily and will pick out any colour within them that’s already within the room.
This large border and small medallion will lend itself to a dining room or sitting room very well.
